5 ways on how to prevent pregnancy stretch marks

Even though the pregnancy period has its wonders and beauty, not all things are pink for the future mother as we might believe. The process of gaining weight in a short period of time, and after delivering the baby loosing weight faster than ever, can leave some unpleasant marks on the woman’s body: the stretch marks. As the skin is stretching for nine months and afterwards does not have enough time to shrink back consequences regarding the aspect of the skin seem to be inevitable.

Do not worry, as stretch marks can be prevented in several ways. Here is what you can do:

1. A good idea would be to watch out for your weight. Try not to gain weight too sudden and make sure that the gaining weight process is done constantly during the nine months of pregnancy. This means that you have to be careful not to exaggerate with eating sweats. You should replace them with lots of fruits. Not only they will help your baby grow healthy in your tummy, but they will also hydrate your body.

2. Drinking plenty of water is a must. Skin hydration is essential for preventing stretch marks. As previously mentioned fruits can help you in this matter too.

3. Exercising. This healthy habit that more and more people seem to ignore will maintain your abdominal muscles firm and well toned and will also prepare you for the delivery moment by teaching you how to control your breathing. If you are not sure what type of exercising if good for you, go to a medical center and see what programs are running there for pregnant women. An instructor will teach you everything you need to know about exercising during pregnancy.

4. Try the massage. A gentle massage over your arms, your tummy and your breasts with hydrating cream or special pregnancy stretch mark cream will stimulate the circulation on those areas and will help you prevent stretch marks. Some specialists say that this procedure should be done twice a day for best effects. It also seems that creams containing cocoa butter or vitamin E are great fighters against stretch marks.

5. There are some medical products (pills) on the market that seem to prevent the appearance of pregnancy stretch marks up to 90% if taken during the first stages of stretch marks development, as they stimulate the collagen production of the skin (this helps the skin renew its structure). However, your doctor should be consulted first before going for these pills as not all of them found on the market contain healthy compounds for your baby.

In some cases stretch marks can’t be prevented as genetics plays its part as well as the hormonal unbalances that occur during those 9 months of pregnancy. A lot of women struggle to avoid getting these fine lines on their body, but in case it happens to you and you can’t prevent them you can always go for a laser treatment after delivering the baby.
