Besides the fact that common sage (Salvia officinalis) is used for preparing different types of food, you should know salvia is good for treating various affections too. This plant has been used a lot in China, being considered ‘a sacred plant’ as it was useful in treating the brain and the eyes affections.
Due to the fact that scientists discovered that vitamin A and C is stocked inside salvia leafs, we can all understand now why this plant was used for treating the eyes.
Another quality of this plant would be aiding a weakened memory. It is most useful in those cases of mental fatigue that have lost the ability of deep focusing. In the cases of cerebral-spinal irritation and general hyper-sensibility, we can count on salvia too.
Common sage (Salvia officinalis) also has active properties upon the vegetative nervous system, meaning that it can normalize the functions of this system. One example would be normalizing the process of intense sweating.
Salvia can also be used for treating gingivitis, amigdalitis (tonsillitis) and pharyngitis as it has been proven to have antiseptic properties.
For external use, for those who have oily skin, applying bandages soaked in sage infusion can do wonders. For oily hair, rinsing it with such an infusion will reduce the sebum production of the scalp.
Here is how you can prepare the salvia infusion: you add two teaspoons of this plant to one cup of hot water and let it rest for 15 minutes. For treating gingivitis you must rinse your mouth 6 to 8 times daily with the salvia infusion. For internal use 3 cups of this tea should be consumed a day.
Still you should not use salvia products if you are pregnant, suffer of epilepsy, or if you are under medication with central nervous system stimulants or depressants.

I see that you made a great job to prepare and publish a lot of useful articles.
I think my grandmother used to put this salvia in our teas before. Although I think oily hair is good and shouldn’t use salvia to cure it.
