Paranoid Personality Disorder – A Complete Overview
Paranoid personality disorder is a disturbed psychological condition which makes a patient hypersensitive and over suspicious about the people around him. This disorder involves an excessive distrust and constant suspicion about everybody’s motives and intentions which often results in poor peer relationships. A person suffering from paranoid personality disorder always believe that his family, friends or colleagues have hostile intentions for him and are trying to deceive him in all manners which makes them untrustworthy for him. Such generalized mistrust and hypersensitivity leads often to social cut off and loneliness which further aggravates the intensity of paranoid personality disorder.
The patients of paranoid personality disorder always remain under a condition of uncertainty about other’s loyalties and sincerities towards them that is why they don’t hesitate to challenge them to prove their loyalties in the way they want. Sometimes it could involve unusual or impossible challenges which make no sense or very much difficult to achieve. This thing makes the related relation refrain from doing such absurd and nonsense action which further adds suspicion to their negative thinking about all relations in general and about that person in particular. While forcing others to do attain something impossible for them, a person suffering from paranoid personality disorder mostly remain cold and empathetic towards the feelings of other people. Such behavior shows obvious abnormality in their psychological pattern.
Self importance and shifting blames to other persons are the main characteristics of a person living under the impact of paranoid personality disorder. Such person solely depends upon his own thoughts, ideas and critical analysis and gives no importance to the ideas of other people which is again a sign of mistrust. This extreme self reliance does not end here, he continually search for finding the proofs for validation of his baseless ideas and biases. When he finds nothing to prove or justify his wrong analysis or suspicion he simply shifts blames to others with no meaningful justification at all.
Such negative thought pattern develops in childhood or adolescence and results in poor social contacts and relationships at home, school and at workplace etc. The patients of paranoid personality disorder are used to find the hidden meanings of realities even in those situation or things where everything is straight forward and simple with no hidden reality at all which is another sign of their disturbed mental state and leave them alone with their biases, prejudicial thoughts and fantasies.
