email

Follicles with a generally wider opening than the usual are termed as blackheads or open comedones. The main cause for their occurrence is oily skin and hyperactive sebaceous glands. These could appear on any parts of the skin which have sebaceous glands – chest, back, face and other body parts.

Some of the home remedies which can be used to treat them are mentioned in the following lines:

  1. For preventing their formation, one teaspoon each of fresh lime and groundnut oil should be mixed and applied on the face.
  2. One of the best home remedies for this problem includes mixing few drops of iodine, one teaspoon of Epsom salt and almost half cup water and allowing it to cool. This mixture should be dipped in with cotton and then should be applied to the areas affected by blackheads. Wait till the mixture dries and when it does, a clean cloth should be used for removal.
  3. Steaming is a very beneficial technique as it can soften or open the blocked pores. Using this method with other home remedies can help to cure blackheads in a faster and easier way.
  4. Another great technique to cure or prevent blackheads involves making paste of fenugreek leaves. This has to be applied on the face every night for 10-15 minutes before sleeping. The removal should be done with warm water.
  5. A face wash made by mixing boiled milk and fresh lime juice can be used for blackhead removal. Moreover a paste made up of water and radish seeds can also work to cure the problem.
  6. A paste of turmeric and red sandalwood (few grams of each) should be made and then applied on the different body parts affected from the problem.
  7. If the blackheads seem too tight, then it should be loosened by using green tea face scrub. The treatment can involve applying poultice made from potatoes.
  8. For removing the black heads easily, the affected can apply a mixture of rose water and almond powder on the affected body parts. Another method involves making a scrub of yogurt, honey, lemon and salt. This scrub should be used on the face for five to ten minutes and then washed off.
