Treatment, Cures and Remedies For Peeling Skin

email

An individual’s kin can peel because of a number of reasons. These could be cold weather, irritation from chemicals, sunburn or chronic skin conditions such as psoriosis or eczema.

The usual treatments for skin peel can be ointments or topical creams. Remedies can also be homemade. The different treatments and cures which can be tried for peeling are explained below:

  1. There are many skin creams like Lanolin, Vaseline, moisturizing soaps or even wrinkle creams which can be bought over-the-counter. These creams help the skin before skin peeling spreads or worsen. The oils, alpha hydroxy acids and vitamin A present in these creams can alleviate the peeling. Also, a person should wear loose clothing in the affected area to avoid friction.
  2. In addition to topical creams, exfoliators can also alleviate the problem of skin peeling. The dead skin is removed by apricot kernels, pumice stones, walnut shells or other abrasives. The oils present in them soothe the skin. These also help in preventing infections, irritations and further spreading along different skin surfaces but exfoliators should always be used gradually for best alleviation.
  3. Natural treatments can also help in alleviating the peeling problem. Different natural products such as cucumbers, Aloe Vera, turmeric, olive oil and vinegar can treat skin peeling. Also, following a diet which contains lots of fruits and vegetables can accelerate the process of healing as these food products contain Vitamin A, B, C, iron and protein.
  4. Typically, a doctor is always consulted with when the peeling doesn’t go even after many measures have been taken for a reasonable time period. But, the doctor’s consultation could be very important as skin peeling can also result from serious diseases such as Kawasaki disease, Hodgkin’s disease and hypothyroidism. Children and infants are more prone to the Kawasaki disease which results in peeling of large skin pieces on both feet and hands. Kawasaki is treated through purified antibodies which help the body in fighting infections.

There are no set time limits in which this disease leaves. Usually, people with more severe cases take longer to heal and those who take early preventive measures can get rid of it that much earlier.
