A problem that negatively affects the lives of millions of individuals (men and women alike) is Urinary Inconsistency. This problem involves undesired outflow of urine from the bladder. This problem falls under many categories and can happen due to several reasons. Women are twice as often are more affected to this problem than men.

One type of urinary inconsistency trouble is overactive bladder. Its symptoms include increase in the urinary frequency which might also include leakage. Another type is the Stress Inconsistence problem which can involve leakage of small amount of urine when the sufferer is doing anything physical, like coughing or laughing.

Overflow inconsistence is another problem which happens when the bladder is too filled. It can happen due to the person’s inability to go to the bathroom or the bladder could be having problems in emptying itself totally. There is also Urge Inconsistence which can occur when the sufferer is asleep and involves leakage of large quantity of urine.

Overactive bladders are usually cured by medications. The overflow and urge inconsistencies can be treated by doing exercises (which strengthen the pelvic muscles) and behavioural changes. The exercises can also many times treat stress inconsistence. Using urethra slings can be also used to cure stress inconsistence. Another option involves using Tension Free Vaginal Tape. This tape is inserted between the urethra and vagina and attached to the pubic bone. It provides more support and the problem of stress inconsistency is drastically reduced.

Other than these options, the bladder suspension surgery is the most common and is most recommended for people who have severe problem of stress inconsistence. The weakness of the pelvic floor muscles is causing the problem of inconsistence. In the surgery, a cut is done on the stomach and the bladder and uterus are removed from their attachment.

They are reattached with a special stitching which provides the pelvic floor with greater support and helps in reliving the inconsistency problem. It doesn’t have a large success rate and there is also a risk of the bladder slipping from its place again but, steady improvement after surgery has been noticed in many cases.
