What is Metabolism? Have you ever thought that it could be related to your weight loss procedure? To be honest I never gave a thought on this …..

First we need to understand the meaning of Metabolism:

Metabolism in simple words can be defined as the calories which our body is burning so that it can continue with the various activities of life in our body. Our body burns calories while we are doing our daily activities such as walking, drinking, running, playing and eating. I was amazed to find out that our body is burning calories even while we are asleep.

Metabolism for 2 people are different as the composition of their body is different and the exercises which you do. A person who does regular exercise has a higher metabolism than a person who never does any exercise. A person who has a higher metabolic rate looses weight at a faster rate. If you want to loose weight then it is essential that you do proper exercise along with having proper healthy food.

Some people are born with the genetic defects regarding metabolism which needs to be corrected as the person can suffer from diabetes or other heart related diseases later in life.

How to control the process of Metabolism?

Various factors determine the process of metabolism in body which includes the composition of the body, age of the person and gender. Some of the other factors include
The type of food one eats, whether the person does exercise or not and for how much hours the person sleeps. Age plays an important role in the process of metabolism as with age the process of metabolism slows down.

To control your metabolism you need to make changes in your lifestyle and your eating habits.

  • Instead of eating 3 large meals you should start eating 6 small meals in a day at regular intervals, stop eating foods that are natural and whole, start drinking coffee and tea to increase your metabolic rates and even spicy foods are said to increase metabolism.
