Itching with my anus started for me last summer and lasted for a year. In the fall, my doctor initially gave me a suppository for hemorrhoids which did not help. I was trying Preparation H for a long time, but during the winter the itching was getting worse. During the winter another doctor gave me a cream AnaMantle with Hydrocortisone. This made it burn, by this time it was cracked, and very itchy. I believe the itching was getting worse after I had taken an antibiotic. I gave this doctor another chance, at this point I was referred to an Anal and Rectal specialist. I explained the problem to this specialist, then was diagnosed with a fungus. The doctor prescribed Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide cream USP. I applied this twice a day and after 3-4 days the itching was much less, what a relief. After 2 weeks, the itching was 99% gone and I had to get used to a life without Preparation H and without pain.
