The inner edge of the corn is sharp and hard and this presses against the underlying tissue causing the pain. Corns are actually only skin that has formed many layers over each other.

Removal of the corn is quite easy and there are many methods of treating the corn. The first method is to try to remove the corn by using a sterile blade or a scalpel. This makes the plantar aspect of the foot to have inverted cone taken out from the foot.

The removal of the corn can sometimes bleed if the cut is made very deep. This can be dressed to prevent infection. The presence of blood also means that the corn has been completely removed. The removed corn area should be frequently watched as the corn can grow again.

Another method of removing the corn is by burning the tissue. This is medical burning that is done where the electric machine is used by the skin specialist physicians to make the area to be burned that kills the tissues under the area. This prevents the repeated excess layering of skin in that area.

There are many corn pads that are also available. This is a simple method of removal of the corn where the corn pad is kept over the area with the corn and the corn comes off the area where it was present, after a few days.

  2. Great post! A podiatrist can remove corns and callus with a scalpel, this is usually a painless experience. It is also possible for certain products to be used to break down the excess hard skin. In many cases corns and callus can be prevented. Using a good emollient on the foot will help keep your skin supple. Wearing cushioned footwear can also help.

A podiatrist can make devices which can reduce the pressure over problem areas, or correct the way that feet work by controlling their movement in the shoe. This can prevent the formation of callus and corns.
