Sunscreens are very important as they protect us from the harmful UV rays of the sun. Even a slight exposure to the UV rays tans our skin, destroys our skin support structure and cause wrinkles and sagging of the skin. A normal sunscreen lotion or a cream usually protects the skin from UVB rays that cause sun tans, sun burns and skin cancers. But there are a variety of options in sunscreens that help you choose for your skin type and needs. If you are looking for a simple sunscreen to escape UVA and UVB rays then you must prefer a lotion that contains zinc oxide, avobenzene and titanium dioxide. Also make sure that your sunscreen has a ‘broad spectrum protection’.
Sunscreens comes with various attributes and act differently on different skin types. So it is very important that you know what sunscreen suits you the best.
- You must look for a sunscreen that has an SPF factor. This attribute shows how much you skin is protected from this sunscreen. If the SPF factor is 15 then the sunscreen merely protects you from burning of the skin. If the SPF factor is 30 then you will be protected from skin sagging, wrinkling and ageing. You must know which factor suits your skin best.
- If you want your skin be protected from premature wrinkling then you may go for a sunscreen rich in Meroxyl.
- An A+ sunscreen protects you from sun tans. This is an ultra protected water based sunscreen and should be used with moisturizers and foundations.
- A body sunscreen lasts longer and prevents suntans, wrinkles and sagging of the skin.
- There are a host of facial sunscreen lotions and creams available which provide moisturizing day care solutions to the skin. They come in SPF 15 and 30 and are suitable for any skin types.
- If your skin is oily, you can use noncomedogenic sunscreens with SPF 15 or higher factors for oil free skin.
- A dry skin needs an SPF factor of 30. Such suncreens protect the skin against premature ageing and skin cancers.
