Overcoming Chronic Fatigue
These days, we all live at a fast pace. It seems like there’s never enough time to get everything in that you’re hoping to do on a daily basis. People overall sleep less than at any time in history, because we’re trying to cram so much more into our lives. It’s no wonder we’re all more tired than we used to be.
Still, we can’t continue going at such a drastic pace for too long. Fatigue starts to set in, and we start making mistakes. We can’t think straight, and physically we feel tired all the time. What we need to do is figure out ways to slow down, then ways to overcome fatigue. Here are six things you can do on both counts.
1. Sleep longer. Sure, this seems simple to say, but doctors have said that most people need to sleep between 7 and 9 hours to get enough rest. The thing is, if you can’t relax enough, there’s no way you can sleep that long, no matter what you do, without lots of training and practice.
2. Learn how to meditate. This is difficult for people on the go, so start slowly. Most of us who seem to be really busy actually waste a lot of time during the day, so we might as well waste some in our favor. Find a comfortable chair or couch and just sit for about five minutes. That’s the best way to start, because you get used to being comfortable, and you’ll also find that, while relaxing, you feel like you’re thinking clearer. Indeed relaxing will stimulate your brain, so think about increasing the time until you’ve found yourself relaxing at least 30 minutes a day.
3. Get a massage. Massage is not only great for relaxing, but it can stimulate your muscles, which rejuvenates your body and helps eliminate fatigue. It’s the reason why athletes will get a massage before and after competition.
4. Exercise. Many people feel like exercise tires them out, but the reality is that exercising releases endorphins, which give your body a boost of energy that can last for hours. The trick is to exercise within your limits, without over-exerting yourself, so you can get maximum benefit out of it.
5. Drink lots of water. When your body is dehydrated, you feel lethargic and, therefore, lack energy. Drinking more water keeps your body lubricated and balanced. Drinking cold water can make your body feel stimulated. Drinking warm water can help your body keep your bodily functions working smoothly, and the elimination of all those poisons will help keep your body feeling better also.
6. Try aromatherapy. This one might seem a bit new age for some, but the truth is that there’s something to scents you like that stimulate your brain and makes you feel better. It can be both relaxing and energizing at the same time, and there’s so many different scents that you’ll enjoy the experience of trying them all out before you decide on the ones you really want.
