HANGOVER – Causes, Remedies and Prevention

Hangover is an outcome of over drinking. Three out of four drinkers suffer from hangover. Hangover causes both physical and mental trouble including headache, stomach problem, guilty conscience, depression and memory lapse etc.

Hangover causes :

Most of the hangover causes are circled around drinking. The major reasons are:

1. Excessive drinking.

2. Drinking with an empty stomach.

3. Too much drink in too short time.

4. Dehydrated body.

5. Insomnia.

6. Physical weakness.

Remedies and cure for hangover

  • Drinking water, especially in the morning, is a good option to reduce the amount of alcohol from the body. This remedy of hangover is very effective after a long drinking session.
  • Honey can breakdown the alcohol into its core element fructose, which can lessen the drinking effect. Vitamin C works in the same way and breakdown alcohol to its root. Both of these natural remedy against hangover can be very helpful. Some of the fruit juices are also very effective.
  • Like vitamin C, vitamin B can also fight against hangover.
  • Thyme tea is a very good natural remedy for hangover. You can prepare the tea by putting five or six thyme leaves in a cup of water and boiling it for five minutes.
  • In case of headache you can try a cold ice pack on the forehead.
  • If you mix two tablespoon of lime juice and one tablespoon of sugar in a cup of water and drink it, it can help you to overcome your hangover. This preventive tip against hangover has shown good result.
  • If you had a hangover at night, take a hot bath in the morning. This will help you to regain your energy as well as draining away the toxin.
  • Banana juice can be a very effective home remedy for hangover.
  • If you feel hangover, you can drink hot chocolate milk before going to sleep. This will help you to sleep well and get over your hangover.
  • Drink pure black coffee with little lemon juice. That will take away the hangover state. This is a very quick and effective cure for hangover.
  • You also need to remember some facts before going out: drink slowly, do not go out with an empty stomach, and drink plenty of water.

    great post, though I was surprised drinking coconut water isn’t on this list. Whenever I have a bad hangover I drink some Vita Coco and then I feel much better. You should try it out.

    I agree with Peter. Nothing treats a hangover better than coconut water, especially vita coco!

    i am not a heavy drinker but i do have the occasional night out in New York with my girls and since drinking vita coco, we have been able to get up the next morning and share the night stories over a bloody mary with out feeling horrible. Vita coco is healthy and hydrating and for us ladies who are still trying to dance like it is 1980, its our savior
