West Nile virus was seen in Boston

Public health authorities stated that Mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus had seen in Boston for the first time in this summer. In the northern part of Dorchester, they found infected insects that could spread virus to people through Mosquito bites.

Up to Now, no human cases were reported in Boston or near Massachusetts so far in this year. The major recent human case of the disease in the place was reported in 2008.

Julia Gunn, director of communicable disease control at the Boston Public Health Commission stated, “We’re always concerned when we find West Nile virus, but this is something that we expect this time of year”. “While we have had no human cases, we continue to remain vigilant.’’

Boston authorities have taken every step to control mosquitoes by keeping pesticides in catch basins and used trucks to do mosquito spraying in some neighboring places.

Deval Patrick, Governor of the state ordered spraying of pesticides by aerial manner to control mosquitoes in Southeastern Massachusetts.

Mainly in the corner of the state is main place for virus with large quantity of swampy terrain that may kill up to nearly half of people who develop symptoms.

By aerial spraying nearly 80 percent of all mosquitoes  had been eliminated in the in Southeastern Massachusetts.
