On Tuesday, five more people were died and more than 100 people were as affect of West Nile virus in Volgograd, central Russia.Nearly two million people were at high risk of affecting with mosquito-borne diseases.

The Russian public health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said”116 cases of the West Nile virus have been registered in the Volgograd region between July 16 and August 23, 2010.”

Out of those people five had died.

The watchdog said that spread of disease is mainly due to the Weather conditions worsened due to the migrating birds nesting in the Volga delta in the summer since last 10 years. Due to heavy prolonged rains and summer helped this virus to spread easily, while with birds infecting mosquitoes which in turn pass it on to people.

“A sharp spike in the number of mosquitoes in 2010 is related to the fact that May and June were unusually rainy,” the statement said.

Nearly 1.5 million who are living in the city of Volgograd and neighboring areas are in highly risk of disease spreading areas.The WestNile virus is easily spreading to Asia, Africa, Australia and Europe ,which may cause a different syndromes from meningitis to encephalitis -inflammation of the brain.
