Before a decade, teen smoking rates were dropped, but they are slightly increasing that shows some prevention methods are needed, a new study says.
The researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention told Cigarette smoking rates are decreased from 28% to 17 % during 2000 to 2009 in the high school student’s .Among middle school students it was decreased from 11 % to 5.2 %.
Nevertheless, from 2006 and 2009, the decreasing rates were not so happy – 19.8 % to 17.2 % among high school students and from 6.3 % to 5.2 % among middle school students.
National Youth Tobacco Survey also done surveys in 2009 stated that 8.2 %of middle school students and 23.9 % of high school students reported any tobacco use, including smokeless tobacco, pipes, cigars, bidis. However, in 2000 only 15 % of high school and 34 % of middle school students were using some type of tobacco usage.
It is the main cause of deaths on U.S, which can be prevented, because 80 % start smoking before coming to teenage around 18.
By keeping restrictions on the advertising and presence of tobacco products,that can reduce the usage of tobacco in teenage people.
