Recent studies states that adolescents who use Acetaminophen or Tylenol had a big risk of allergic nasal conditions, asthma and eczema(which is related to skin diseases). Normally who takes painkiller once in a month has twice the risk of getting these disorders. However, it does not mean that drug causes problems.
Acetaminophen or Tylenol is broadly used as extremely safe medicine or drug- the reason for use of this medicine in hospitals was it was best painkiller in place of ibuprofen or aspirin. The main problem caused by usage of this drug it damage to liver by overdoses.
Some Researchers found that Tylenol increases the risk of hearing loss especially in men; it may also cause asthma in newborn babies whose mothers used this medicine during pregnancy.
Researches of Critical Care Medicine and American Journal of Respiratory reported this new thing about the drug. Richard Beasley of the Medical Research Institute in Wellington headed this team of researchers, which collected information from 322,959 13 and 14-year-olds in 50 countries about the usage of acetaminophen.
McNeil Consumer Healthcare, manufacturer of Tylenol stated that drug “has over 50 years of clinical history to support its safety and effectiveness” and that no clinical trial has demonstrated that the drug causes asthma. Company also said, “The drug is the preferred pain reliever for asthma sufferers”.
