A latest study  says that Breastfeeding a newly born child at least for one month can lower risk of Type 2 diabetes. This was already said before by many studies but recent study strengthens this to a larger degree.

The normal question that arises was why wouldn’t every new mother breastfeed for at least one month?

The University of Pittsburgh carried out this research; they collected data from nearly 2,233 women California’s Kaiser Permanente healthcare system. They asked woman about various questions regarding duration of breastfeeding, breastfeeding methods for  childs and on diabetes also. They had finally concluded that 27% of mothers who does not breastfeed to their child are more likely developed Type 2 diabetes.

Risk of getting Type 2 diabetes was two times higher when compared to the woman who had breastfeed their child for one month. Among them  woman had 19 percent chances of Type 2 diabetes if they had breastfeed for six months, when compared with 16% among women who breastfed for six months or more.

Moreover, Type 2 diabetes is a common disease in U.S because of increasing rates of obesity. Breastfeeding can help woman in losing weight so in turn decreasing obesity rates.

  1. I think breastfeeding reduces all sorts of problems for the baby that could potentially develop later in life. Possibly because the mother transfers her healthy bacteria to the baby to help keep a healthy gut lining and reduce inflammation.
