A new study showed that if you sleep too much this can lead to negative consequences, and it could be bad for your health. A group of experts has found that people who sleep at least nine hours a night are approximately twice as probable to expand Parkinson’s illness as those who get by on six hours or less. The US research in addition demonstrated that working night shifts may help ward off the overwhelming situation, which affects 120 000 people in Britain, with 10 000 cases diagnosed a year. The studies from the National Institutes of Health, a US government body, followed the health of 80 000 nurses for 24 years. The women, who were all free of Parkinson’s at the start of the research, were asked how long they used to sleep and how often they worked night shifts. They were as well weighed and asked about their usual behavior, dietary habits and if they smoke. By the end of the study, 181 had developed Parkinson’s. The results of the study showed that the more a person slept, the higher is their danger of raising the illness. People that were most at danger are those who slept at least nine hours a night. These women were 80 percent more liable to have been diagnosed with the situation than those who slept six hours or even less. Those people who slept an average of eight hours were 60 percent more probable to expand the illness, as seven hours’ sleep a night raised the risk by 10 percent. Whereas lots of sleep raised the danger, working night shifts reduced it. And the longer they did night shifts, the lower the risk. Those who did a minimum of three night shifts a month for at least 15 years were half as likely to develop Parkinson’s as those who always worked days. Preceding researches have demonstrted that night-shift workers have lower levels of the hormones melatonin and oestradiol. At higher levels, they may contribute towards the expansion of Parkinson’s. Symptoms contain tremors, muscle stiffness and a gradual slowing down of the body. As the illness progresses, can appear negative consequences on our health, and can be affected speech, facial expression and balance. There are who can people end up in a wheelchair.
