Green leafy vegetables helps in reducing risk of diabetes

Recently British Medical Journal had published that eating very large amounts of green leafy vegetables can decrease the risk of developing the Type 2 diabetes.

Patrice Carter, from the University of Leicester said, “Information from previous studies and discovered that people who take additional green leafy vegetables a day had decreased the risk of developing the type 2 diabetes mellitus by 14%.Green leafy vegetables contain antioxidants and magnesium which will be very useful for human body. Nevertheless, more studies states that it will show a small amount of effect on human body. They also suggested that plant diets (means green leafy vegetables) are better option for preventing Diabetes. On April 2009 a study was published on journal of Medicinal Food a food item named Koren kimchi made up of Chinese cabbage have an anti diabetic effect.

Islam MS and Choi H from Seoul National University conducted experiments on rats by injecting diabetes in to their body and feed them with Kimchi which showed a better glucose tolerance in rats.

In addition to this many other items such as  plant-based diet, brown rice, soy products, black tea can be used to control diabetes to some extent. It is common disease in developed countries with more than 20 million Americans are affected by this disease
