Beaches were reopened after bacteria tests

Nearly 33 beaches closed for swimming on Friday and again reopened yesterday .Because latest tests proved that bacteria has predominantly reduced from the New Bedford to North Shore.

After conducting tests at all beaches only 19 beaches were proved to be safe such as Hingham, NewBedford, Dorchester.It may caused due to the drought that is followed by rain which caused spike in bacteria.

Swimming was closed in two beaches – According to reports from Department of Conservation and Recreation, Wollaston Beach at Quincy and Carson Beach at South Boston .You can know the further details from DCR from 617-626-4972 hotline number.

Among all the beaches Rhoda Beach and Parkhurst Beach had very high levels of enterococcus, that causes irritation of skin, vomiting .Quincy is having the highest turnaround in bacteria as it was said by the Andrew Scheele ,Quincy Health Commissioner

DCR spokeswoman Wendy Fox yesterday defended the department’s sign policy: “We’ve got a red flag with a swimmer and a line through it, and the lifeguards try to let people know.’’

Still bacteria amounts present in beaches were unavailable for other 10 beaches that were closed on Friday, due to the tests that had been not done on the beaches – Martha’s Vineyard, Swansea, Somerset, Salem.

Some people at Wollaston complained that they didn’t get any information regarding bacteria when they entered the water
