Exploring the Causes of Food Poisoning
As far as the causes behind such food illness are concerned it is mainly caused by the consumption of contaminated food material. According to a report about 250 diseases are caused by hygienic food consumption wherein about 80% cases no profound cause or factor is found. It means that more than 80% food poisoning cases are attributed to food contamination and no proper research is carried out. The main reason behind such negligence is that in most cases patient recovers within 24 to 48 hours after taking routine medicine or through domestic treatment processes. Therefore all possible factors behind food poisoning are still undiscovered or unknown.
Categories of Factors Behind Food Poisoning
Commonly known factors behind food poisoning are broadly divided into two groups including infectious agents and toxic agents. The group of infectious agents comprises viruses, bacteria and parasites while in toxic agents group we mainly find poisonous mushrooms, improperly cooked food and pesticides present on food products like fruits and vegetables.
Food contamination can occur at any stage from its production to handling and from cooking to eating. Whether there involve poor preparation process or there present poor sanitation condition both eventually lead towards food contamination which causes food poisoning. It is mostly occur in people who are not habitual to wash their hands after coming out of washrooms. If such persons eat something or prepare some food product with such dirty hands then nothing can keep them or people eating their prepared food from food illnesses particularly food poisoning.
Mains Agents of Food Poisoning
Mains agents of food poisoning include Campylobacter, Salmonella, Parasites, E.Coli O157.H7, Listeria, Shigella and Botulism etc. Campylobacter is a bacterium entered the body through unpasteurized milk, contaminated food or contact with infected animals. Normally it causes vomiting, fever and nausea but in persons with weak immune system it can lead to serious nervous problems as well.
Salmonella is mostly found in North America and Europe, normally transmitted through cattle, poultry and uncooked meat etc. It can cause chronic problems by diffusing into blood stream from intestine and can spread to other persons easily.
Parasites are more common in developing countries environments but Toxoplasmosis is also common in England as the main cause of food poisoning. It is mainly found in digestive system of animals including cats and spread through infected cats.
E.Coli O157 is another bacterium considered a serious factor behind food poisoning. It is also found the digestive system of human beings and animals and spread through uncooked beef and unpasteurized milk.
Listeria is found in ready spicy food including pre packed sandwiches, cooked sliced meat and butter packs etc.
Viruses also contribute to this deadly food illness because of two viral infections including rotavirus and norovirus. Rotavirus is common in children while norovirus can infect both infants and adults.
