			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Alzheimer&#8217;s disease is a much discussed about condition due to the fact that the cause is not known exactly and the treatment is still missing. Until a few years ago, people who developed trouble with their memory and their behavior were considered to have a psychic condition or just an advanced sclerosis of the brain that occurs in most of the elder persons. Nobody suspected Alzheimer&#8217;s as this disease was not known enough by doctors and not at all by family members.</p>
<p>Lately more and more cases of Alzheimer&#8217;s disease are being registered by hospitals and family doctors and this fact is not due to an extension of the disease but due to the better information of the public regarding this affection.</p>
<p>A cure for this condition is not available right now, but at least the treatment can slow down the evolution of the disease. This is why recognizing Alzheimer&#8217;s disease from its inner stages can make a difference. Here are a few signs you should look for when suspecting Alzheimer&#8217;s disease in an elder person:</p>
<p>Usually Alzheimer&#8217;s disease starts with small behavioral changes: the person suffering of this affection might become socially isolated, might not enjoy the hobbies he/she used to, might seem like a different person. Most of the family members would describe the behavior of their elder relative as &#8220;bizarre&#8221;.</p>
<p>In a more advanced stage, the elder person might not manage recognizing friends or even close relative, like the wife or the husband. They might develop delirious ideas about the people surrounding them, or about certain situations that have been worrying them for a while. These moments of forgetting are not permanent in the beginning of the illness. People suffering of Alzheimer&#8217;s have good days, when everything is normal, but in any moment their &#8220;crisis&#8221; can reappear. This is what scientists can&#8217;t really explain: &#8220;how come the patient is well and in after one hour he becomes a whole different person?&#8221;</p>
<p>Some elder people might have problems with taking a decision, or might not be able to express itself right (he/she can&#8217;t find the right words). Others don&#8217;t recognize their home, or have no clue about what time or day it is. Some might not remember how a certain meal is cooked, even though they used to cook it one a week. Symptoms can vary a lot, and this is why it is so difficult to diagnose in the early stages this affection.</p>
<p>The lack of confidence in other people is also a sign. Sometimes people suffering of Alzheimer&#8217;s disease might believe that their family members are lying or cheating to them. Even the feeling of insecurity is possible.</p>
<p>The treatment available nowadays can slow down or even stop the progression of the disease, preventing the patients from reaching a  stage where they will not even be able to complete their basic needs, like eating, getting dresses, using the toilet or walking. This is why going to the doctor with your elder relative as soon as you notice something is different can help a lot.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>During the cold season a lot of people seem to gain a surplus of weight, mostly due to a routine that installs upon their daily habits, affecting their alimentation and exercising program.</p>
<p>In order to avoid weight changes that can occur during winter, I recommend you some simple tips you can insert daily in your schedule:</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>1. Do your morning running with a friend.</strong> Sometimes you might just want to skip over your morning exercising due to the cold that has installed outside, but this will only make you turn over your whole body schedule. If you have a friend waiting for you in the morning in front of your house, or in the park for running together, than you will no longer give up exercising so easily as the time spend together will pass a lot more pleasant than by being alone.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">
<strong>2. Change your exercising habits. </strong>If still you can not bare the thought that you will have to exercise outside during the cold season, than you can move your exercising indoors. There are a lot of gyms and fitness centers that have a lot of space and equipment and can offer you a different kind of training than the one you were used to. Plus, you might find this change quite useful as it will drive routine away for a while.</p>

<strong>3. Winter sports can be quite fun and healthy.</strong> If you have a skating rink in your city or a snowboarding park then you can go there every week and spend some time with one or more friends. You will help your body maintain its healthy shape and you will also get to relax for a couple of hours that day.</p>

4. Holidays can really add some weight to your body.</strong> This is due to all the parties we go to, places where we eat a lot, not necessarily in a healthy way as we were used to. Food excesses are not quite a great idea if you want to maintain a perfect body weight. The best thing to do at these parties is eat a little bit from everything you like, and enjoy that food you take. If you still feel like eating then just focus on one type of food that you like most. Don&#8217;t ruin your holidays thinking only about the fact that you might get some weight in this season. If you try to eat healthy foods, in the right quantity for your body&#8217;s needs then there is no need to worry.</p>
<p>The cold season is not the enemy of our body. As long as we try to maintain our healthy habits and avoid getting too lazy when it comes to exercising then the body will not suffer of weight gain at all.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Why is flossing so important and why should everyone floss every day? I mean, when you&#8217;ve had a hard day at work, and that you have just brushed your teeth before going to sleep, why give that extra effort to floss? Is it really necessary?</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s something interesting to consider: your mouth is a door to your body. Everything that constitutes your body has come in from your mouth, whether it is food, liquids or bacteria. Bad and harmful bacteria, which are located in dental plaque, cannot be removed only by brushing alone, and if it remains in your mouth, it can find its way into your body!</p>
<p><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-284" title="Flossing" src="http://www.healblog.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/floss_man3.jpg" alt="" width="220" height="147" /></p>
<p>Plaque is a soft and white accumulation of micro-organisms. It contains about 400 different species of bacteria, and billions of individual germs in each milligram of plaque. Most of these germs are harmful, but some can be damaging for the teeth or the gums when they gather in thick layers.</p>
<p>Dentists and dental hygienists always insist on the importance of flossing, and recommend doing it twice a day. Here are 6 very good reasons why you should listen to them:</p>
<p><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>1. To prevent tooth decay</strong></span></p>
<p>Dental plaque can cause cavities if it&#8217;s left between teeth. When mixed with sugar, the bacteria that live in plaque can start the process of tooth decay. This is why it&#8217;s bad for plaque to be left in your mouth. Brushing alone does not clean in between teeth, only dental floss can remove plaque in those areas.</p>
<p><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>2. To prevent gum disease</strong></span></p>
<p>Gingivitis (inflammation of gums) is the first stage of gum disease (periodontal disease). It is caused by an accumulation of plaque around gums and between teeth. Plaque also contains bacteria that are harmful for the gums. Flossing is therefore important to remove all plaque accumulated after a meal.</p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #0000ff;">3. To prevent halitosis</span></strong></p>
<p>Dental plaque is one of the causes of halitosis, and if it&#8217;s left between your teeth, it will generate a bad smell in your mouth. This odour comes from the metabolism of the bacteria contained in plaque. Bad breath can also be caused by gum disease and tooth decay which are also primarily caused by plaque.</p>
<p><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>4. To prevent tartar build-up</strong></span></p>
<p>Tartar is actually dental plaque that has become hard from the saliva&#8217;s calcifying action. Good oral hygiene measures, which include brushing and flossing, can slow down the accumulation of tartar, but does not actually remove it. Some people produce tartar more than others. Regular dental cleanings are recommended to remove tartar.</p>
<p><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>5. To reduce the risk of heart disease</strong></span></p>
<p>As mentioned earlier, the mouth is an entry point to harmful bacteria that may eventually reach the body organs, including cardiac tissue. Dental plaque, which contains dangerous bacteria, must be therefore eliminated to prevent those micro-organisms to reach the heart through the blood stream and cause heart disease complications.</p>
<p><span style="color: #0000ff;"><strong>6. To avoid the complications of diabetes</strong></span></p>
<p>There is scientific evidence that people who suffer from diabetes can have their condition complicated by gum disease. Diabetics usually have a weaker immune system and take more time to fight inflammations and infections, including the ones that start in the mouth. That&#8217;s why oral hygiene, which includes daily brushing and flossing, is very important to prevent diseases, or disease complications, such as diabetes.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Usually <strong>dark circles under the eyes</strong> reflect the lack of sleep, the fatigue and tiredness you might suffer of. In some cases these unpleasant dark circles underneath the eyes show an organic problem: heart, kidney or thyroid affections.</p>
<p>If after trying the next solutions for removing the dark circles you still don&#8217;t get any positive effects than you should go to your general practitioner and check if you don&#8217;t suffer of one of the previously mentioned organic affections.</p>
<p><strong>1. Black tea bags.</strong> As the back tea has antioxidant properties and improves blood circulation, you can be sure that your dark circles and even the bags under the eyes will resorb and fade away. As the effect of black tea is only temporary you should apply this herbal solution every day. Here is how you do it: take two tea bags that you have used for preparing your afternoon tea and place them in the fridge for one hour. Apply them on your closed eyes and wait 15 minutes before removing them.</p>
<p><strong>2. Ice.</strong> You can use two cubs of ice too as they stimulate the blood stream and contract the blood vessels. In this way the eyes become clearer and brighter and the dark circles from underneath the eyes will fade away.</p>
<p><strong>3. Cucumber slices.</strong> As cucumbers contain antioxidant substances too, they are just perfect for tired eyes. They also contain a lot of vitamin K which is useful for protein production and for stimulating the blood circulation. Apply two cold cucumber slices over your eyes and keep them there for 10 minutes. You will observe positive effects right after removing them. You can apply them twice a day: in the morning and in the evening, or whenever you know you have an important date and you want to look great.</p>
<p><strong>4. Gels and creams. </strong>They are a more practical solution nowadays, but they still don&#8217;t have a permanent effect against dark eye circles. A lot of these creams and gels are based on natural substance too, like: coffee, black tea extract or chamomile. They must be applied only on a clean skin, in the morning and in the evening. You might also find o the market anti dark eye circles masks. These are to be kept in the fridge first and then applied on the skin. They have a great effect, but if the dark eye circles are caused by an organic condition then they will only improve the aspect of the dark eye circles instead of removing them.</p>
<p>No matter what solution you choose to use against dark eye circles, you should also try to get more sleep and see if this lack of sleep is the source of your dark eye circles. Some women have an inherited pattern in what concerns dark eye circles and in their case the positive effects after applying these natural remedies are quite minimum. For their situation only the esthetic surgery might be the best solution.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Feeling tired is not something out of the ordinary. We all have days when we feel like we can&#8217;t do anything and all we want is to lie down on the sofa and relax or even take a nap. This lack of energy can be fixed usually by supplementing the diet with more vitamins or by implementing a regular exercising schedule. When tiredness does not seem to go away no matter what you do, then a medical problem might be causing all the lack of energy.</p>
<p>Here are 4 medical conditions that might cause tiredness:</p>
<p><strong>1. Sleep disorders.</strong> We are talking here about sleep apnea and the restless legs syndrome. Sleep apnea is a condition that interferes with the normal breathing process during the sleeping time. One of the symptoms of sleep apnea would be snoring, but remember that not all people who snore get to develop sleep apnea. During the deep sleep, the upper airways get intermittently obstructed and block the normal air inhalance and expulsion.</p>
<p>And as about the restless legs syndrome, well, the name of this condition tells all there is to know about how this affection manifests. If the feet keep on having contractions and spasms during the sleep, the person suffering of this affection will not get too much sleep and will always feel tired in the morning. This condition can be genetically inherited, but it can also hide an iron deficiency.</p>
<p>A lot of people seem to suffer of these two sleep disorders, and a lot more are not diagnosed yet by a doctor. The good news is that medical treatment is available and so tiredness can be defeated if caused by a sleep disorder.</p>
<p><strong>2. Depression.</strong> People suffering of this condition are not only ‘heart sufferers&#8217; as many might think. Depression affects the mind, the soul and the body as well. People suffering of depression don&#8217;t complain about being sad, or about the fact that they have lost their life appetite; they complain about their lack of <img class="alignright size-full wp-image-275" title="Tiredness" src="http://www.healblog.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/tiredness.jpg" alt="" width="354" height="482" />energy and of the fact that they always feel tired and fatigued. <p>From our early childhood a lot of us, the pessimistic people, have been determined in one way or another to think and become pessimistic. Our parents or grandparents might have continuously told us that ‘life is though my child, you will see&#8217; or ‘this world is not an easy place to live in&#8217; and all kinds of similar pessimistic phrases that have only managed to make us become pessimistic too. Luckily, it seems that we can learn to become optimistic in the same way we have unwillingly learned to become pessimistic, but in this case we all have to invest a greater effort into transforming ourselves positively, as attitude and behavioral changes in adulthood are not that easy to implement as they are in childhood.</p>

<h4>Here are 4 positive attitudes you can work on in order to change your perspectives over life and world:</h4>
<p>1. Don&#8217;t invest more time and feelings in events that are not worth it. Reflect a little bit if certain unpleasant things that have happened to you lately deserved the large amount of time and emotions you invested in. Don&#8217;t struggle your mind and soul over something that lacks of importance. Look into your heart and decide how much of yourself you should invest in certain people, conflicts and events.</p>
<p>2. Happy people are more optimistic. In order to be happy you should reserve daily some free time only for yourself. After leaving from work or in the lunch break do something you really want to do in that day: go for a walk in the park, buy yourself a small gift you have lusted for some time now, go watch a comedy or just go out for a coffee with a special friend. Small pleasant things can really make one&#8217;s day happier.</p>
<p>3. Accepting the dark past and getting over it can really be a relief. People who have learned to accept the mistakes they have made in their past and have learned to move over and think better of the present and future seem to be more optimistic than others. Don&#8217;t make an obsession from what has happened in the past. Just let the bad thoughts away, as you can&#8217;t change what has already happened. Think positively of the future and you will see how your life will get better.</p>
<p>4. Set small targets to fulfill. The New Year&#8217;s resolution is not a joke; it is something that people need to do in order to have some objectives to follow during the next year, in order to feel better when they really succeed in what they have promised themselves. You can do this too, but not only once a year. Establish some small objectives to follow during the next weeks and you will see that your live will get a whole different meaning than it used to have.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t satisfy with watching other people being happy and contempt. Learn from them and you will see that life is great and it is worth living especially if you get to become an optimistic person.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Back pain and cervical pain usually occur after inadequate efforts that we make, forcing our vertebras and muscles to work more than they are used to in sustaining the head (which weight about 4-5 kg) and the body&#8217;s position.</p>
<p>You might wonder how come you get so frequent cervical pains and your brother/sister or other friends don&#8217;t. This is mostly due to the profession you have. For example, if you work as a hairdresser, your cervical pain will be caused by the unnatural position of the head that you have to maintain for hours: bent towards the front.</p>
<p>Luckily, cervical pain can be avoided by replacing certain ‘unhealthy&#8217; habits with ‘natural&#8217; ones, and by regularly exercising your neck muscles. Here are a few tips on how to avoid cervical pain:</p>
<p>1. If your work makes you sit in front of your computer for many hours, then you should make sure you adopt a healthy body posture: sit straight, and use a feet base in order to get them a little bit raised off the floor. Also, remember to take a 10 minute break every hour. During this small break step away from your desk and take a walk around the office.</p>
<p>2. Adjust your pillow. During the sleep the body can twist more or less its neck if you sleep on a high pillow or if sleeping on the stomach. By using an anatomically shaped pillow, that supports the natural line of your neck you will wake up relaxed and ready for a new day.</p>
<p>3. Exercise daily on your cervical muscles. Make slow rotations with your head, starting from the right to the left. After 5 rotations reverse the direction so that you don&#8217;t get too dizzy. Then bend your head to the right and then to the left. Do this for 6 times. Then bend your chin in front as much as you can towards the thorax and then take it back and extend your head on the back.</p>
<p>4. In case you do get to develop a neck pain, take an anti-inflammatory drug like ibuprofen. This will help your body reduce pain and inflammation. But try not to develop a habit from using them. If your neck pain continues to bother you for long periods of time then I suggest you visit a chiropractor for specialized care.</p>
<p>5. Try applying heat on the back of your neck. It seems that a warm bandage always helps the muscle relax and calms down the pain. You can always try taking a how shower, as this is a lot more pleasant than applying bandages on the skin.</p>
<p>Any cervical pain that does not resolve itself within a day or two from its onset should be treated by a doctor. Some neck pains can hide other serious affections that need medical observation and specialized treatment in order to disappear. And as we all know, treating affections from their early stages is always easier than working upon an old condition.</p>

<p>As most of our basic needs (like eating and sleeping) play their own important role in our lives, so does sex. As the world we live in becomes more developed and people tend to focus more on their careers than on their family, sex can be left over at some point, mostly in an unconscious way.</p>
<p>Some women complain that the relationship with their husband does not work as it used to do any more. They are mostly disappointed about the fact that they don&#8217;t have time for making love any more as they are always overburdened with a rough schedule at work or with taking care of the children, or with cooking for the whole family. Men and women notice at some point that their relationship with the loved one is changed, but they can&#8217;t really point to a certain cause.</p>
<p>Specialists say that the good going of a relationship is conditioned not only by maintaining common interests and friends, but also by maintaining a regular love life. Some couples have found a way to include sex in their busy lives and have observed in this way a rejuvenation of their relationship. They just schedule a date for making love, just like scheduling an appointment to the dentist or to the hairdresser&#8217;s. This method might not inspire you too much trust, as at the first look it lacks of romance and of human warmth. But, it seems that it works in a lot of people: no more frustrations, a reconnection with the partner and a bust to the well going of the relationship.</p>
<p>Just announce your husband or wife that on the next Thursday at 18:00 you are inviting him/her on a romantic date, in your cozy home, without any children around (make sure you can send the kids at their grandparents that day). At first your husband/wife might not say anything, might just seem to think over your suggestion, but you will see that he/she will be there for the date when the time comes.</p>
<p>So, just try this suggestion and you might be stunned of its efficiency into busting up your relationship.</p>
