Six natural weapons against cancer
Nature has always been an infinite and amazing source of health that most of us don’t appreciate or overlook while being healthy and fine, and only turn to when getting ill. Nature has its own way of protecting us, and by following a few simple natural lifestyle ideas we can prevent cancer.
1. Vegetables are of help. Broccoli and Brussels sprouts contain a lot of antioxidant flavonoids, substances that protect our body from developing cancer. It is best to avoid preparing broccoli at the microwaves as you will end up loosing most of its active substances. By boiling these two veggies you will conserve better the healthy substances they contain. Spinach and cress are also vegetables you should eat at least two times a week for they contain vitamin C, calcium, folic acid and antioxidants.
2. Red wine or grapes – they contain resveratrol, a substance with anti-inflammatory properties that will prevent your body from developing cancer. Tomatoes contain lycopene, also a protective substance again cancer, and vitamin C that is an antioxidant. Also, any other fruit that contains vitamin C and you like best is welcomed to be a part of your every day meal.
3. Reduce the amount of sugar and white bread intake. These tasty aliments that we can’t seem to be easily reducing from our diet are proved to trigger colon and renal cancer. Try replacing these aliments with whole grain bread and plenty of fruits.
4. Keep the stress away. Stress can be a factor that triggers any form of cancer. We have to deal with stress every day at work, but we must not let it defeat us. Try relaxation methods at home, or outdoors so that you don’t get too much affected by the daily life problems. Go for a walk in the park, or choose jogging or swimming, anything that pleases you and makes you feel better.
5. Roast meat – the less often we eat it the healthier we shall be. The fact that we need to cook our meal at high temperatures is a dangerous thing. At 200 Celsius degrees harmful substances have been found in the roasted meat. All these substances are just waiting to trigger liver or colon cancer. It is best to go for other meat cooking procedures besides roasting and for white meat instead of red if possible.
6. A cup of tea – a great source of antioxidants. Green tea is good to choose if you want to keep cancer away, but the best one is kombucha. This last one is a more special type of tea, prepared (some could say by biotechnology) from a mixture of green and black tea leafs, water, vinegar and sugar left to sit on for a week. During this week the drink develops compounds that have antibacterial and anti-cancer properties. You can also find kombucha as a natural supplement (pills) in specialized stores.
