A bruise is a common skin injury that results in a discoloration of the skin. Blood from damaged blood vessels deep beneath the skin collects near the surface of the skin resulting in what we think of as a black and blue mark. Symptoms of bruising vary depending on the cause of the bruising. The bruise may be very small and may blend in with the texture of the skin, or it may be large, swollen, and painful.

Both my sister and girlfriend seemed to get bruised easily. I heard that it had alot to do with iron in their diet which increase their hemoglobin count. Anyways, I just wanted to say that this article really helped to point out some great ideas to treat bruises. Thanks!

hi,
i recently rode my bike without a saddle and used a tracksuit top above the seatpost for cushioning.
i had no problems at the time but 2 days later i had a painful, hard lump on the fatty tissue of my bottom.
can you suggest ways to ease the pain?
thanks

I have a very bad bruise done to my thighbone,it caused my knee to swell which I brought down ith ice packs. Now though there is a lump on the outside of my thigh almost as though my muscle is constantly tightened, this is painful it brings tears to my eyes.I did go to an emergency room but they didn't tell me anything I didn't already know ,they gave me vicodin for pain but it didn't help. Iwas already taking ibuprofin for pain and swelling. Can anyone out there help or suggest anything else?By the way there is no visiable bruise!
