For all people, hair on their head is a very important part of their personality. It also affects their self esteem and health. Many people see falling of hair as an inevitable thing (just like old age). Premature balding is caused mostly due to genetics. These can be detected through the hair patterns of one’s grandparents. There are several non-hereditary causes such as illnesses like Alopecia which is a dermatological disorder and cause balding patches. Also vitamin deficiencies or malnourishment can result in hair loss. The doctor should be consulted in these cases who will suggest diet changes, vitamins and medications.
There are several ways in which balding can be slowed down. These include over counter medications or cosmetic procedures which can be used easily. Some of the options are:
- Daily application of medicines (Rogaine), gels and topical shampoos which result in hair growth.
- There are also several vitamins which improve a person’s health and also hair growth.
- Using hair plugs or special brushes which cause minimum scalp abrasion can help in preventing hair damage. Lesser damage hair results in less hair loss.
- Many dermatologists also prescribe drugs or medications which are intended to slow the hair loss.
- Strenuous dieting has seen to impact the loss of hair. Including more protein and iron in the diet can cause less loss of hair.
- Traumatic stress which can occur due to death in family or work troubles can also result in hair loss. Staying healthy and happy can help in reducing the loss of hair.
