Malaria serves to be one of the largest killers of the innocent children all across the world. It has been found that every year almost 250 million cases of people suffering from malaria are reported. And the disease serves as a killer of about one to three million sufferers each year.
After 50 years of study and research, a vaccine will be available soon to fight the deadly disease of malaria. The results from final phases of the vaccine’s trial will be available in the year 2011. However, even if the results from the trial will be a hit, it will take about two years or so in order to get the vaccine approved to be used on kids in Africa.
Presently, African countries are promoting using mosquito nets in order to control malaria. But this vaccine will prove to be better than the nets and other protection measures. Robert Newman, the director of malaria program by WHO reported that though it will take about 40 years to eliminate malaria, there are chances for massive success in public health from the upcoming vaccines and other medical advancements.
It has also been found that a big supporter of this malaria fighting vaccine is the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Even GlaxoSmithkline has used up a huge amount on building a factory for producing the drug and has further promised to keep the profit margin not more than 5 percent. In fact, this vaccine will stimulate further studies and researches by highlighting that vaccine against the disease of malaria is really possible.
